Former Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre was convinced he could land Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp this past summer.

As part of his ticket, Farre targeted the German for the new season and held talks with the Reds manager.

Sport says Farre contacted Klopp during the pre-candidacy period to consider his possible arrival in Catalonia in the event of victory in the elections.

Klopp, at the time, "timidly" refused this proposal, although Farré was convinced that he could continue talks with the German once his victory was confirmed. However, that all fell through after Joan Laporta's election triumph.

It's now emerged that Laporta has raised Klopp's name in board meetings this past week as they consider replacements for current coach Ronald Koeman.
