JOHOR BARU – The Johor Fire and Rescue Department took almost 10 hours to control a blaze that gutted two factories in Jalan Masai Lama, Pasir Gudang here last night.
Senior officer Mohd Tilmizi Mustapha said the department was alerted to the incident at the wax and mineral water processing plants at 9.18pm, and a team comprising firefighters from the Pasir Gudang, Tebrau and Johor Jaya stations were deployed.
“The team found that 80% of the factory lots were on fire. The operation was focused on controlling the flames from spreading to adjacent factories,” he said in a statement today.
“We also carried out relay pumping from two fire engines using nearby fire hydrants and a water tanker.”
The blaze was brought under control about 7am, he said, adding that work to extinguish it is ongoing.
