Manchester City are hoping to change rules regarding substitutions in the Carabao Cup.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are lobbying other teams in the competition and the EFL to tweak the substitutions rule from three to five.

City boss Pep Guardiola is behind the move, as he wants more chances to rotate his team in the starting lineup and from the substitute's bench for Carabao Cup matches.

The EFL did add five subs for the semi-finals and final last term, but such a move is unlikely this time around.

City's lobbying is unlikely to succeed, as teams already out of the competition may complain about an unfair change in rules midway through the tournament.
