Manchester United chiefs fear a new protest next weekend ahead of the visit of Liverpool to Old Trafford.

The Daily Star says United are concerned there could be a repeat of the violent fan protests seen at Old Trafford back in May when Liverpool come to town on Sunday.

The Premier League clash was forced to be abandoned after supporters of United broke into the ground to demonstrate against the club's owners the Glazers.

Club chiefs are on 'red alert' ahead of the weekend's clash, with United fans suggesting they make it 'Round Two' in posts over social media.

Officials have already been in contact with Greater Manchester Police and local authorities to plan in the event of any protests after being caught somewhat off-guard by the last incident, which occurred on a day the match was due to be played behind closed doors.

The atmosphere could be heightened even more if United's poor form continues into Sunday, particularly with unbeaten Liverpool on a high after beating Watford 5-0.
