The Ivory Coast international is being linked with Manchester United and PSG this week as his deal runs down.
Milan have offered a package of five years, worth €5.5m-a-season in the first two years and €6.5m the next three years.
However, Kessie is demanding €7m-a-year - net - plus bonuses to re-sign.
There remains hope inside Milan that Kessie can be talked down from his current demands.
