Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is not in immediate danger of losing his job.

There is speculation around his future, considering Newcastle's proposed takeover from a Saudi-led consortium.

Reports in the British media indicate the deal is close to completion, with the Saudis and Premier League all but resolving the differences that had halted any deal over the past year.

According to The Independent, 60-year-old Bruce has a contract that stipulates he is due more than £6 million if he is sacked.

Mike Ashley, who currently owns the club, will not sack Bruce, as he wants the new owners to make a decision on the manager's future.
