New chipset

Powering the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is Google's own Tensor chipset which was co-developed with Samsung. Tensor is not a blazing-fast SoC that rivals the likes of the Snapdragon 888 or A14 Bionic, but it will still be plenty fast enough for the new Pixel phones.

We say this because Tensor is built very specifically to run Google apps smoothly meaning the chip is well-optimized for the Pixel 6 series of devices.

Under the hood are four power-efficient cores that run at 1.8GHz, two middle cores clocked at 2.25GHz, and a couple of performance cores that run at 2.8GHz.

Tensor is supposedly based on the unreleased Exynos 9855, so we can expect Tensor to be built on a 5nm architecture and have the same performance level as the Exynos 2100.

Specs you need to know about

The Pixel 6 is expected to sport a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel that pushes a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 6 Pro will come with a 6.71-inch panel instead which supports 1440p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The former will run on a 4,600mAh battery, the latter will pack a larger 5,000mAh unit. Both phones will support up to 30W of fast charging too.

Cameras

For imaging, both phones will come with a 50MP main shooter that utilises Samsung's GN1 sensor. We're also expecting a 12MP ultrawide camera too. The Pro model will apparently get a third camera, which should be a 48MP telephoto lens.

The Tensor chip we mentioned will allow the phone to achieve a 20x zoom magnification thanks to the Super Res Zoom feature.

There's Motion Mode that adds extra depth to a scene, Face Unblur for sharpening faces, and Magic Eraser that lets users remove objects in the background.

Google Pixel Stand

This is a wireless charger that's expected to arrive the same time as the Pixel 6 smartphones it supports up to 21W of charging, which is great for the Pixel 6 that supports the same rate of fast charging.
