SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — The Department of Environment (DOE) has taken five industrial waste samples from a warehouse in Batang Kali, which was raided on September 30.
Selangor DOE director Nor Aziah Jaafar said the samples were sent to the Department of Chemistry Malaysia to specifically determine the type of waste.
“We sent the sample to analyse whether the industrial wastes were under the DOE’s monitoring or not.
“The results will be available within two to three weeks after we submit them on October 1,” she told SelangorKini.
Nor Aziah added that should the waste be confirmed to be in accordance with the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Waste) Regulations 2005, enforcement action will be imposed according to the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
Previously, the warehouse, which conducted industrial waste disposal without permission in Batang Kali, was raided by the Hulu Langat District Council.
State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said the inspection with Selangor Land Office has also found out that scheduled waste was not managed according to the standard.
