Former Valencia star Gaizka Mendieta has hailed the impact of coach Jose Bordalas this season.
Valencia go to Barcelona this weekend in excellent shape under Bordalas.
Mendieta told Marca: "It was important to start a new project well. People were disappointed before, but the arrival of Bordalás reactivated and revived all that.
"It will be necessary to see if they will hold up with that level throughout the season and the injuries are respected.
"It's going to be a very close league in European positions, but I think Valencia has the capacity to get there."
