Calls from clubs are being made for Premier League chairman Gary Hoffman to step down.
The Athletic reports frustration has reached a tipping point after Newcastle's Saudi-Arabia backed takeover and there is a consensus among the majority of Premier League teams that Hoffman should depart.
Executives across the Premier League do not believe that Hoffman possesses "necessary clout from a governance, political and communication perspective" and that clubs were frustrated with communication regarding Newcastle's takeover.
Hoffman was appointed Premier League chairman back in April 2020 but it has been a turbulent time at the reins of England's elite division.
Prior to that, Hoffman's background is mainly in banking and he was chair of Monzo before he joined the Premier League.
Life at Newcastle under new ownership began with a 3-2 defeat at home against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, despite Steve Bruce's side taking the lead in the second minute through Callum Wilson.
