BELURAN: Police confirmed no criminal elements were involved in the death of a teenage boy who was found drowned in Sungai Bintang Mas, Maliau, on Wednesday.
Beluran District Police Chief Supt Kasim Muda said initial investigations showed the 18-year-old had a picnic and went for a swim with his siblings.
He said the teenager went missing while they were swimming and several villagers dove into the river to rescue the victim who fell unconscious.
“A Telupid Health Clinic health officer later confirmed the victim had died,” he said.
