Newcastle United's young forward Santiago Munoz has spoken about the start of his career with the club.

The 19-year-old secured a move to the Magpies from Mexico in the summer, signing from top flight outfit Santos Laguna.

Newcastle may not have won a Premier League game in seven attempts this season, but Munoz believes he is settling in well so far.

"I am very, very happy. It's something that is fabulous. The club is very good. All the people in the club are very good. The city, I really like it," he told the Futbol with Grant Wahl podcast.

" The stadium is a historical stadium and a historical club. I am working very hard my first months here so I can get into the group."

On adapting to life in England, he added: "It's difficult because of the difference of hours. All my friends and family are in Mexico but this is my dream since I was little. My mentality is to be here and take this opportunity the best way.

"I have my family at the back of me helping me with the things I need. I have the mentality to work. I know it is difficult to be here alone but I want this to work."

He finished: "Right now I am training separately. They are working to get me physically ready. I am working for that to be quickly part of the group. I know that I will be firstly working with the Under 23s but my goal is to be quicker and to be with the first team."
