SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — The Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (Tawas) initiative will soon be brought back for the future of Selangor’s children, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the state government has prepared investment packages to improve on these initatives.

“When we first implemented it in 2008, we guaranteed RM1,500 to each recepient, but after several years it had to be stopped since we were unable to prepare the promised allocation,” Amirudin said during the Selangor Budget 2022 briefing session at Hotel Wyndham in Klang yesterday.

Tawas, offered by Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor, was first launched as part of the Merdeka Day celebrations in the state on August 30, 2008.

The programme is open to children born in Selangor who fulfill the required criteria. Applications must be made before the child reaches the age of three. When the child turns 18, they will receive RM1,500 from Tawas.
