Former Everton striker Jose Baxter is delighted to be back with the club coaching the U23s.

The 29-year-old has been working alongside David Unsworth and John Ebbrell as part of Everton's academy setup for a number of weeks, and was on the sidelines for the U23s recent 2-0 win over Burnley at Southport on Monday.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Yeah I love it.

"To be around Unsy and John [Ebbrell] and learn from them, there's not many people I'd rather learn from.

"It's brilliant, for me it's been a great experience and long may it continue.

"We've done a lot of unit work where I get the strikers, Unsy gets the defenders, John gets the midfielders - Bainesy comes in and does the unit work as well.

"So it's nice to get them and hone into that individual stuff. We do get to do it - with the busy schedule it's not really enough with the training, game, rest cycle.

"Hopefully throughout the year we get to do more of it."
