Man held over alleged Ampang vape shop assault

KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested a member of the armed forces believed to have assaulted a woman at a vape shop in Taman Keramat, Ampang, here.

Ampang Jaya police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 26-year-old was arrested at his house in Taman Setiawangsa here at 12.30am this morning.

He said further investigations found that the suspect is stationed at the Batu Kentonmen Camp here and has served with the armed forces for seven years.

“Tests found the suspect negative for drugs, while the suspect’s uniform, believed to have been worn during the incident, was also confiscated,” he said today.

Farouk said the suspect has been remanded for four days starting today until Sunday to assist in the investigation. – Bernama, October 7, 2021
