Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font is delighted seeing Xavi appointed coach.
Xavi was part of Font's ticket for this year's election.
Font beamed: "Yesterday was an exciting day. Xavi will push this forward because he knows how to work and has clear ideas. He is an asset of the club. I celebrate as the one who more than who now governs the club agrees with what we thought.
"It is a pity to have lost these months, but we have to congratulate each other that Xavi is finally in charge of the sports project."
He continued: "In the first game we will see changes. I have had conversations about football with him and it is a delight to listen to him. This has only happened to me with him and (Pep) Guardiola. It will be a more recognisable football. Open ends, high pressure, get the ball back as soon as possible.
"We will immediately see a football with which we will feel more identified."
