Jokowi invites Prince to G20 summit in Bali

JAKARTA: Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) (pic, left) extended an invitation to Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) to partake in the G20 Summit in Bali next year.

President Jokowi officially delivered the invitation during a bilateral meeting with Prince MBZ at Al-Shatie Palace, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, Wednesday.

“Next year’s G20 summit will be held in Bali on October 30-31 (2022). I have planned to invite His Majesty as a guest of the Indonesian presidency next year. I really hope that His Majesty would accept my invitation,” President Jokowi stated as quoted from a press release received here on Thursday morning.

Furthermore, in the presence of Prince MBZ, he explained that the 2022 Indonesian presidency of G20 will bear the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger.” – Antara News

During the presidency, Indonesia will focus on several matters, comprising digitalisation and energy transition, to ensure the availability of clean technologies that are affordable to all, inclusive finance, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), women, and marginalized groups, as well as investment for green and sustainable economies.

President Jokowi and Crown Prince MBZ are also committed to intensifying cooperation and partnership in the construction of the new capital city.

Both leaders have agreed to intensively follow up on its progress through technical meetings.
