Italian sporting director Gianluca Nani has questioned Tottenham's interest in Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
With just over 18 months on his contract and refusing to consider new terms, Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso is ready to sell the Serb.
Spurs are in talks with the Viola for Vlahovic, but Nani told Radio Bruno: "Off in January? I don't know if there are teams willing to spend such a high amount in the January market.
"Tottenham are a thriving club financially and I think that (Antonio) Conte, if he signed, had guarantees to strengthen the team.
"But I don't think Spurs have an extra budget to use for the January market even though I think Vlahovic is an extraordinary player for whom it is worth making an important economic sacrifice."
