Brentford boss Thomas Frank insists he was never in contact with Aston Villa.
The Dane was linked with Villa before they turned to Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.
Frank said, "One is rumours. Something else if something concrete happens one day or another. I do not know. I think it's so hard to assess because the facts are that I did not get any call and I am insanely happy to be in Brentford.
"There's a lot I want to achieve here. I want to help make this club a great asset in the Premier League.
"We want to maximise it and attack the league, with everything we can. We may not win it, but we can play some matches like against Liverpool, Arsenal and Wolverhampton. These are good examples of what we want to show. That's part of what we want to offer.
"I think it is natural as with everything else that if you do really well as a person, keep your nose in the track, are insanely focused on constantly improving yourself, then all of a sudden there are some who notice you in relation to something, but I have a purpose and that is to do everything to improve it here."
