Tardelli has declared Barella among the best players in the world.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "He is not only one of the best mezzalas in Italy, but in Europe.
"His pace gives courage to his teammates and scares his opponents. And then I don't think this challenge against Switzerland will be so technical, other qualities will be needed. And Barella has them all.
"I have never had any doubts about his recovery. He is Sardinian, stubborn in the best sense of the word. Difficult to knock him down, like when he takes the ball and goes."
