Al Sadd president Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad is insisting on face-to-face talks with Barcelona counterpart Joan Laporta if coach Xavi is to be allowed to leave.

Al Sadd officials have made it clear to Barca that Laporta must fly to Qatar and speak directly with Bin Hamad if he wants a deal to be closed.

A source told AS: "If you want to close Xavi's operation in a friendly way and without any problem, you have to come to Doha.

"The sheikh wants an equal deal with Barcelona, he does not want to negotiate with seconds, he wants Laporta."

Laporta is expected to leave for Qatar after tonight's Champions League clash with Dynamo Kyiv. He will be joined on the flight by vice president Rafa Yuste and director of football, Mateu Alemany.
