We do get bored with our possessions every now and then. We’re always seeking a change of scenery, a new way to re-energise ourselves. The same goes for our working and living space.

The desk which you bought for your child two years ago may no longer seem comfortable for the child anymore, as the child may have grown taller and needs a higher desk. The desk can be made higher simply by adding more blocks. And if you love building things, Nemoro blocks may just be what you’re looking for.

Or maybe a neighbour is throwing a party and needs an extra table or a shelf. This is when you can bring the Nemoro blocks over and assemble a table or shelf right before your neighbour’s eyes. Not only is this convenient, you also get to impress the guests.

Created by a South Korean named Lee In Seob, who later had the blocks patented, Nemoro blocks are made from durable plastic materials. The furnitures are assembled by crossing the blocks with one another. Think of it like a bigger version of Lego bricks. You can assemble a child’s desk, shelf, bench or a display rack, among others. Think it! Build it!

There’s a reason why Mr. Lee created Nemoro. It was because his wife kept throwing away furnitures that no longer seem to fit the living space. When his wife threw out his favourite desk one day, he knew he just had to invent something that would give him the flexiblity to tweak the furnitures, so that it would suit the current decor and needs, as well as help him save money.

Besides the home environment, Nemoro blocks would also be ideal for schools, exhibition centres and offices.

Modern Essentials, an e-commerce store, brought the blocks to Malaysia during the national lockdown. The blocks were featured by popular YouTuber Wei Hong and the response was so overwhelming that it crashed Modern Essential’s website shortly after the post was uploaded in March this year. It garnered 175k views on YouTube, while the same video had 351k views on Facebook. Modern Essentials was optimistic about Nemoro in spite of the pandemic.

Here’s the YouTube link if you haven’t watched it yet. If you prefer to watch it on Facebook, the link is here.

The blocks may be a bit pricey, but it is imported from Korea and you need not buy new furnitures each time you get bored. You just need to order more blocks and unleash your creativity.

Building furnitures together with family members and colleagues also strengthen relationships. When people get together for spontaneous or planned activities, the bond between them deepens.
