New Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard promoted several youngsters for training yesterday.

The Birmingham Mail says Villa entertain Brighton at Villa Park on Saturday and, after being unveiled as the club's new boss last Thursday, Gerrard got to work with his new squad at Bodymoor Heath at the top of this week.

One player spotted joining the first-team in training on Monday was Tim Iroegbunam. A summer recruit from nearby West Brom, the midfielder has been a revelation in the club's strong start to the PL2 season and it would appear as though Gerrard will take a look at him up close.

Jaden Philogene-Bidace was also spotted during a shooting drill.

Trezeguet joined the rest of the group who weren't away with their respective countries.

The Egyptian hasn't been seen since he departed the field at Liverpool in tears back in April, quite clearly in some discomfort and with an injury that transpired was a serious knee problem.
