Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze makes his long-awaited return to action for the Under-23s this afternoon.

The midfielder suffered a serious Achillies injury in the final week of last season but has returned ahead of schedule.

Eze will play for the club's academy side when they host Blackburn Rovers at 1pm this afternoon, says the London Evening Standard.

It had initially been feared that Eze's injury would keep him out until the new year, but the former Queens Park Rangers man has exceeded expectations when it comes to his recovery and is relishing a return.

Palace continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 win at Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday.
