Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe admits he's not spoken to the board about a technical director.

Former Chelsea chief Michael Emenalo is expected to take the post.

Howe today said he has not had talks with the owners about a director of football yet.

However, he said he would "embrace" one if they decided to go in that direction.

"It's essential you have a structure that works for your club," Howe said.

"It's not my decision, what happens with the structure above me here, but it's something that if it did happen, I would embrace.

"Obviously the demands on my time are huge. As a manager, you're training, you're giving so much the players that we have here and that's always my main focus. But you can't be everywhere you can't be watching targets somewhere else. So that's where the people that are bringing the players to you need to do very good work."
