Mikel Arteta was delighted with Arsenal's commitment to win against Watford on Sunday.

The Gunners held onto a 1-0 victory against Claudio Ranieri's side heading into the international break.

And Arteta said the victory was vitally important to maintaining momentum.

"I am, because I think we're showing a lot of commitment in every defensive action that we do as well as organisation," Arteta told the club's website after the game.

"Obviously you need to defend well, but again in the Premier League, any action can cause you a problem, any set piece, they are a dangerous team and thankfully we kept a clean sheet and got the three points

He added: "Winning before the international break is always great, it keeps the momentum going, the atmosphere good with the players that have to be here, good vibes.

"And for the players who have to go on internationals, we have to try and plan things and know what we have to do there."
