Didi Hamann is confident Antonio Rudiger will re-sign with Chelsea.
The Germany centre-back is threatening to leave Chelsea on a free transfer as talks continue to stall over an extension.
Rudiger has flourished under the tutelage of compatriot Thomas Tuchel, but the club have been unwilling to match his wage demands.
This means Rudiger could sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January ahead of a free transfer next summer.

Real Madrid have been linked with the 28-year-old, with AS reporting a pre-contract offer is being drawn up for the Germany international defender, who was so crucial in Chelsea's Champions League triumph last season. German giants Bayern Munich are also watching developments.
But former Germany and Bayern Munich star Hamann believes Rudiger should commit his future to Chelsea. Indeed, Hamann also believes Bayern should work harder on keeping hold of Niklas Sule, who like Rudiger comes off contract in June.
Ironically, Sule has been linked with Chelsea, where manager Thomas Tuchel is a fan.
"I don't see any reason why he should leave Chelsea; he did ok in Germany early in his career, but he's become a much better player since moving abroad," Hamann told TribalFootball.com, on behalf of FreeSuperTips.
"I think he's getting a lot better with his game, but I don't think he'll be an option for Bayern Munich.

"[Bayern defender Niklas] Sule is playing really well, and I think it makes more sense for the two clubs to try and keep hold of their players.
"I don't see Rudiger at Bayern Munich I've got to say, but if he's available on a free then there will be a lot of clubs interested.
"He suits the way Chelsea play and I think he'll stay at the club."
Rudiger was been impressive for Chelsea this season, helping the Blues sit clear at the top of the Premier League table.
