Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini was delighted with their Europa League victory over Ferencvaros.
Betis won 2-0 via goals from Cristian Tello and Sergio Canales.
Pellegrini said afterwards: "The key thing was to go out there with a serious attitude from the first minute. We were playing a very good team and we had the quality and the fortune to get in front early with a very good goal and then we controlled the game. We didn't let Ferencváros get close to our goal often and we created more chances to have scored other goals.
"We had a very poor game against Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. We weren't our usual selves. The rest of the group stage I'm pleased about – we won at home against Celtic, won at Ferencváros. We have to play at Celtic still, while here against Leverkusen it was a very tight game and they had the fortune of an own goal with which they equalised."
On the performance of veteran Joaquin, Pellegrini also said: "The ovation he received at the end of the game shows how much the people love him, and how important he is here at the club. Like in all the Europa League [matches], he enjoyed the game and had an important role in the first goal. He remains a player who despite his age is fundamental to us on and off the field."
