Brighton manager Graham Potter is taking no risks with right-back Tariq Lamptey.
The wing-back was in fine form at the weekend, despite a 2-0 loss against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
But Lamptey came off in the game in the 79th minute, and Villa scored their two goals in the last 10 minutes of the contest.
Asked about the decision, Albion boss Potter said, per The Argus: "He sprinted such a lot.
"We know where he has come from and what his history is.
"It was a case of making sure he is available for the rest of the season, and we are still building him up to that point.
"I am really happy with how he contributed to the game."
