Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is fed-up being confused with Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy.
Benjamin Mendy has been charged with six counts of rape and is currently in custody pending trial.
Edouard Mendy has taken to social media to point out he has been confused with the City fullback: "It is sad to see in 2021 in both France and England that for some, black people have neither first names nor distinct faces. These errors seem to be random, but on the other hand they are highly symbolic.
"It is not complicated to distinguish between two faces, especially when they wear different jerseys."
The Chelsea keeper's social media post was supported by Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy: "Thank you, Edouard Mendy! We are in 2021. Stop! It will take time, but in the end you will respect us, whether you like it or not."
