Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone felt they paid for not taking their chances in Wednesday night's Champions League defeat at Liverpool.
Atletico lost 2-0 via goals for Liverpool from Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane.
Afterwards, Simeone said: "They started the first half well but so did we. We had one [chance] for Carrasco and then the corner for Correa when we were going for the cross to try to score. Then their first goal came and the sending-off, and clearly from there it becomes more complicated.
"We realised that when you work more, with a higher concentration, a defence with a man less defends well. We defended well and were hoping for a chance to get back into the game but it didn't come. The Luis Suárez goal was offside – [only] a little but it was offside."
He added: "We knew it would be tough until the end. There are three of us with options to qualify so they'll be exciting games. I liked the way the team understood they had to suffer in the second half; there are moments when you have to suffer."
