Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) will conduct “Ops Usang”, a meter replacement programme in users’ premises in the State and Labuan in stages.
SESB Senior General Manager (Asset Management) Idris Mohd Noor said the programme would involve some 9,000 meters of more than 15 years.
The operation started early this month here, in Papar, Kota Belud, Tuaran, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna, Tawau, Tenom, Keningau, Beaufort and Labuan.
“The replacement is done to ensure the power usage in the premises can be recorded accurately, apart from ensuring meter reading can be done better as some of the old meters have faded surfaces,” he said in a statement, Friday.
“The replacement cost for the new meters will be borne by SESB and it would be done during work days or weekends by appointment.
“Customers will be notified through the issuance of a written notice and the replacement works would be done by SESB-appointed contractors who need to bring along their verification letters during these works.”
He also said these contract workers are not allowed to enter the premises if the gates are locked, and customers will experience power disruption for about 510 minutes during the replacement works.
For enquiries, contact 15454, and SESB called for full cooperation from customers to ensure the meter replacement works are done smoothly.
