Wayne Rooney remains firmly committed to Derby County amid reports he could become interim manager of Manchester United.

Derby are 18 points from safety in the Championship after being docked 21 points, and Rooney has been linked in a temporary role with his former club.

Speaking after Derby beat Bournemouth 3-2 in the Championship on Sunday, Rooney said: "It is always sad when a manager loses their job, especially a former team-mate of mine. I feel for Ole.

"The club have made their decision on Ole's future, so it is a sad day for Ole.

"In terms of myself, as I have said I am committed to the club until I get told otherwise."

When asked if it would be irresistible if he was approached about the United job, Rooney said: "Listen, I am Derby County manager. I keep working hard to get the best results on the pitch for this team. As I have said, I am committed to this club."
