SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 — Some 20 chronically-ill patients in the Kinrara state constituency received donated medication and health supplements by Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Amal Wanita Selangor (Pekawanis)
Aid was specially channelled to those suffering from kidney and heart ailments, and cancer patients, among the B40 low-income group, said its health bureau chief Lim Bee Eng.
She described the contributions as lightening the suffering and emotional pressure of the patients, as some of them have been bedridden for a long time.
“As a non-governmental organisation, Pekawanis will continue to aid the low-income groups in all of Selangor’s areas, through the cooperation of community leadership in order to trace these groups,” Lim said in a statement.
Pekawanis, headed by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari’s wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad, also handed out RM100 in financial aid to 30 Indian single mothers, in conjunction with Deepavali.
“Some of them have only recently lost their husbands due to Covid-19, and their children have lost their fathers so suddenly. Certainly this Deepavali is not an easy one for them,” she said.
