Departing Manchester United vice-chairman exec Ed Woodward is in talks about maintaining a role with the club.
The Daily Mail says Woodward is set to be offered a role as a consultant which will mean that any beleaguered board members can call upon his support.
Such a consultancy role is commonplace for long-lasting key members of staff.
Richard Arnold looks set to take over Woodward's role as chief executive, though he remains in his current post as group managing director for the time being.
Woodward is scheduled to leave his post in December, though there is talk that could be pushed back into the New Year.
