Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admits he's unsure of Toni Rudiger's contract plans.
The Germany defender's deal expires at the end of the season.
Tuchel said: "It's pretty clear what we want but it's not like 'this is football that the coach wants something or the club wants something' then the things happen.
"You have to accept it them sometimes it can arrive and sometimes there is a bit of a delay and things maybe take there time.
"But I'm very very sure that Toni feels also how respected and what kind of important role he plays at this club he's a big part in a big club and I'm very sure he's aware of it.
"I'm calm because I feel Toni calm, I feel the situation calm here."
