Leicester City defender Jonny Evans is confident he's over his foot injury.
Both club and country missed Evans, with City conceding 23 goals in the 11 Premier League matches he missed, and with Northern Ireland's World Cup qualification hopes ending.
But the 33-year-old feels it is an issue that is now behind him.
“I can play regularly," he said. “Towards the end of last season, I'd been struggling with the foot injury from the March internationals. I was able to play on with it, but the pain started getting quite severe and then in the warm-up for the Newcastle game (a 4-2 home defeat), the arch of my foot ruptured. It was literally just before kick-off.
“That gave me an instant relief from the issue I had, it took the pain away, but it then brought on different issues from a mechanical point of view, and different parts of my foot were in quite a lot of pain going into the back end of the season and the start of this season.
“I feel like that's solved now. It probably just took a bit longer than I expected to heal, but I feel in a really good place with it now.
“There's still a little bit of discomfort there, but I'm in a place where I feel I can perform. There was a little bit of a worry because it was taking such a long time, and when you get towards the back end of your career, you start to worry about those things, so it was a bit of a concern, but I think I'm past that now.
“I feel good, and I feel like I'm building my fitness and getting stronger, but I'm really happy with how it feels."
