
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 122 new Covid-19 cases, Monday – the lowest daily caseload since May.
State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is also Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson, said this brought the State’s total to 238,668.
Of the new cases, two were detected from cluster screenings, 40 from symptomatic screenings, 56 from contact screenings, while 24 from other screenings.
Ranau has the most cases at 21, followed by Kota Belud (19), Kota Kinabalu (19) and Tuaran (16).
Other districts registered single-digit new cases while eight others recorded zero.
“Many districts recorded lower new cases, with four of them witnessing a significant decrease – Kota Kinabalu (-14), Tuaran (-14), Papar (-12) and Penampang (-10),” Masidi said in a statement, Monday.
“Eight other districts registered an increase in daily cases while six others retained the same record as yesterday (Sunday).”
Some 118 of the 122 new patients are categorised under Category 1 and 2, and there are no case in Category 3, while one patient each in Category 4 and 5, and two others are still under further observation by the Health Ministry.
The State also recorded 261 recoveries (cumulatively 230,386), and four deaths – one each in Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, Putatan and Kudat.
“Some 789 patients are still undergoing treatment – 422 in hospitals, 360 in public quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC), six in temporary detention
centres/prisons and one in a private facility.
“The number of patients needing critic care is 47 – 44 in ICU/repurposed critical care and three in open wards, and 13 patients are on ventilators.
“Meanwhile, the number of Stage 4 and 5 patients who have not completed their vaccination is 29.”
As of Dec 19, cumulatively 2.45 million individuals in Sabah had received their Covid-19 first dose while 2.4 million had completed their vaccinations.
