Kota Kinabalu: The court set Jan 26 next year for further pre-trial case management of the case involving a 65-year-old woman charged with committing criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM1.7 million.

Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus set the date for Chua Geok Hwa @ Monica when her case was brought up for case management via Zoom on Monday.

Chua is accused of breaching the trust given to her as the Executive Director who was appointed to manage the savings of Seri Mengasih Centre by taking RM1,768,022 through 13 cheques for her personal use.

The offence allegedly took place at the Seri Mengasih Centre, Jalan Selangor, Tanjung Aru, between March 2018 to December 2018. 

The offence under Section 409 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between two and 20 years, with whipping and also liable to a fine, on conviction. 

Meanwhile, in the same court, a man charged with taking syabu repeatedly, will go trial on Aug 3-4 next year.

The court fixed the date for Abdul Jumat Asara whose case was brought up for case management.

The prosecution informed the court that all documents pertaining the case had been served to Abdul.

The court also set another further mention date which is on May 26 next year via V-Coss.

Abdul allegedly took the drug in Kudat area and he has several previous conviction records for taking drug.
