Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo for his pressing against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Starting with Marcus Rashford up front, the 36-year-old was able to hurry the Palace defence on a few occasions.

United went on to win the match 1-0 thanks a late goal from Brazilian midfielder Fred.

And Rangnick, who is known for his gegenpressing tactics, was impressed with how Ronaldo pushed the opposition.

"We always tried to be on the front foot," Rangnick told BBC Match of the Day.

"We were never not apart from maybe the last five minutes. At all other times we were trying to keep them away from our goal.

"We wanted to play with two strikers, especially in the central position. By the way, Cristiano Ronaldo's work off the ball, chapeau."
