Newcastle United attacker Santiago Munoz won't be seen until 2022.
Munoz is on loan from Santos Laguna and is believed to have suffered a muscle injury early in his Toon career in training.
Academy chief Elliott Dickman told ChronicleLive: "Santi is injured and still doing part of his rehab.
"It is likely to be after Christmas I would imagine before we see Santi again in a match situation.
"I know the staff are working very with him to try to get him ready when that comes."
