
JOHOR BAHRU − The Johor Sports Council (MSNJ) plans to hold the Menteri Besar Cup E-Sports competition early next year, to boost the sports industry in the state.
“We (Johor) are still new in e-sports, therefore, we need to look for ways to attract young people’s interest in e-sports and get sponsorships,” state Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi told reporters after the closing ceremony of the 2021 Grand Final Player Unknown’s Battleground Mobile (PUBG), XTIF Johor E-Sports carnival here yesterday.
He said MSNJ would meet Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad soon to discuss the plan.
Meanwhile, he said the 2021 XTIF Johor E-Sports carnival, which was organised virtually by MSNJ, saw 45,045 participants from 26 parliamentary constituents in the state competing in two categories, namely Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and PUBG. – Bernama, December 12, 2021
