Rodrigo Vilca has cut short his loan with Doncaster Rovers to return to parent club Newcastle United.

The 22-year-old Peruvian playmaker has returned at his own request after a half-season loan at Doncaster ended after 13 appearances and two goals.

Vilca is wanted by Alianza Lima but is keen to remain on Tyneside and stake his claim at Benton.

Sources close to the player have told Chronicle Live he is eager to stay in the UK and show what he can do - preferably in Newcastle colours.

Vilca, a cash signing from Deportivo Municipal, joined United in autumn 2020 but has only featured in the Under-23s in a black and white shirt.
