Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says winning the LaLiga title last season cannot be overstated.

Cerezo discussed 2021 with Marca.

He said, "It was a very complicated season. Seeing Atletico win the league without fans, especially in exciting and difficult matches like we had, is difficult and sad. But in the end, the joy came at Valladolid and it was a triumph that, had it been experienced with fans and with Atletico's passion, would have been even more unforgettable.

"We had the misfortune of doing it without fans [in the stands], but what we thought at the beginning, which was to be champions, turned out well and with great joy on the part of all of us who were there."

Cerezo also said: "That we are champions today and being champions without fans is not something to be appreciated, it's something to be valued even more. Being champions against Real Madrid, Barcelona or Sevilla, all of the important teams in the Spanish league and with fantastic squads, gives it even more merit."
