Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers was left frustrated after their 6-3 defeat at Manchester City.
Rodgers believes the game was lost on key decisions.
He said, "We were here to get a result, it was a strange one – at half-time we were 4-0 down, they have had nine shots at goal and we have had eight so it was a little bit strange as I don't think the scoreline reflected the first half if I am being honest.
"The penalty was never ever a penalty, the first one, it is such a poor decision. We have Paul Tierney sat in VAR and he is missing physical challenges in every game I see yet he deems that physical enough when they…the defender has dropped to the floor, he is playing the game, and the referees and officials have bought it. We were disappointed with that.
"At half tine we have a huge challenge, we said to the players, can we win the second half and let's see there the game can take us. And we have to show the type of team we are, a team that never unravels physically or mentally and at 4-0 that can be easy to do away to the champions, with the injuries we have and Covid. But the players stood up, made a game of it and got to 4-3.
"Against Liverpool we contested the corners really strongly, today we did not get contacts on the ball and that made it difficult for us. We made adjustments but we should still do better.
"I thought James Maddison was brilliant today, so good taking the ball and was a real threat. It is all down to himself, my job is to maximise what to get out of the players. We challenged him to demand more from his talent, and now his efficiency in the game is getting there. The difference is from being a top talent to being a top player, as a top talent you show potential but as a top player you are consistently doing it."
