All states to be in Phase 4 of National Recovery Plan beginning Monday

KUALA LUMPUR – Sarawak and Kelantan – the last two remaining states under Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) – will be moved to Phase 4, effective Monday.

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the decision was made after taking into consideration the risk assessment conducted by the Health Ministry and National Security Council (NSC).

“With the transition of phase for the two states, this means all states in Malaysia have moved to Phase 4 of NRP,” he said in a statement today.

Hishammuddin said the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Phase 4 remain the same, and can be accessed through NSC’s website.

He reminded the public not to get too comfortable with the pandemic situation, noting that Covid-19 is still a safety and health threat to everyone – particularly with the emergence of the Omicron variant.

“All quarters must continue to adhere to the SOPs with full discipline and responsibility.

“Wear your masks, practise social distancing, get your booster dose if you’re qualified, conduct periodic Covid-19 tests, and practise the ‘test, report, isolate, inform, and seek’ procedure.”

Sarawak and Kelantan’s transition into Phase 4 comes amid a steady decline in Covid-19 cases nationwide in recent weeks, with 3,997 infections reported yesterday.

This is against an average of more than 5,000 a day last month, as well as daily 20,000 cases in August. – The Vibes, December 31, 2021
