Kota Kinabalu: Four families in the Membakut State constituency will celebrate Christmas this year in new homes.
Minister of Special Duty, Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said it was the effort and concern of the Sabah Chief Minister who had allocated RM42.9 million in aid to non-Muslim schools and religious bodies in Sabah this year.
“This year, four families in the Membakut State constituency will celebrate Christmas in new and more comfortable homes. The families involved are in Kg Sg. Damit, Kg Bawan, Kg Lumat and Kg Dungau.
“This is from our Chief Minister who has channelled allocations to non-Muslim houses of worship and missionary schools in the State,” he said during the 2021 Ramah Mesra and Christmas contribution presentation ceremony at the Membakut Town Open Hall.
At the ceremony, Arifin presented prizes for the winners of the Christmas tree decoration competition, in addition to Christmas donations to churches and the Basic Christian Community (KKD).
Meanwhile, one of the recipients of the Hardcore Poor People’s Housing Project (PPRT), Franky Lazim, expressed his gratitude for the allocation.
He hoped that the government would continue its noble efforts in helping the poor acquire their own homes.
