Christmas isn’t a season, it’s a feeling – Edna Ferber
Christmas is truly a wonderful feeling! I love how festive everything becomes. When December comes, we’ll have Christmas themed meals (peppermint mocha is a personal fav), joyful giftsets, and decorations to match our holiday spirit.
Although we can’t visit the Christmas markets in Europe or traverse through the streets of London with bright Christmas lights, we have our local malls with different themes for us to get into the Christmas mood.
Here are some malls with festive decorations and events throughout December:
Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya
Join Lion and friends for some holiday cheer! “Together For Good”. This year, the theme is giving back to the community, especially impoverished families and students throughout Malaysia. In addition to this, you’ll be able to participate in fun AR activities at selected AR game stations to win a small prize! Snap some pics with the large Christmas gifts while you’re there too.
Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur
Every year, we can expect great things from Pavillion, KL! Located at KL’s Golden Triangle area, it’s no surprise that Pavillion is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Coach ‘Give A Little Love’ Bespoke Holiday Installation is right at the entrance, stop by for some photo-op with Coach Holiday Polar Bear. You’ll also find adorable animals along a snowy landscape around the iconic Pavilion Crystal Fountain.
Once you’re done visiting Coach’s Christmas display, head inside the mall for a change in scenery! Pavillion’s Mystical Christmas features mystical fairies, jolly snowmen and stalls amidst a 30-foot fairy Christmas tree.
Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur
Presenting – the tallest Christmas Tree replica in Malaysia, only in Suria KLCC! In addition to this grand tree, visitors can enjoy interactive Aurora lights, train rides, a festive photo booth, and Meet and Greet with Santa! The young ones will love to meet Santa and, I’m sure the adults won’t miss an opportunity to snap a few pictures in front of the tallest Christmas Tree replica in Malaysia.
1 Utama, Petaling Jaya
Visit a charming Christmas Village nestled in 1 Utama’s Oval concourse this December. “𝑱𝑶𝒀” transports you to a magical realm with nordic reindeers. This picturesque setting also has mini stalls to visit for last-minute Christmas gifts and if you’re in luck, you might be treated to lovely Christmas carols.
Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur
If you love gingerbread cookies as much as I do, you’ll love Midvalley’s delightful life-sized gingerbread village. Take part in interactive Christmas workshops, visit stalls to get Christmas gifts, and get some gingerbread cookies/balloons for the little ones.
MyTown Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur
‘The Best Christmas Yet-i!’ celebrates magical Yeti creatures around MyTown. Sneak selfies with all of the Yeti creatures hiding in the village. Every weekend, bring your family and friends to enjoy MyTown’s Christmas Parade + Snowfall (available till the first week of Jan).
IOI City Mall, Putrajaya
Christmas Fantasea awaits at IOI City Mall! I love how they decided to go with this underwater theme for Christmas. It’s a different take on Christmas festivities and you’ll love the splashing performances available every weekend (more information are available on their Facebook page). The little ones will be able to enjoy a variety of Santa’s Little Helpers Workshop!
Setia City Mall, Shah Alam
Gold, glitz and glamour await at Setia City Mall. Snap festive photos with matching outfits as well as exciting performances this month. Gift wrapping services and handmade calligraphy messages are also available (t&cs apply) at their Personalisation Booths (UG Atrium).
Take in all the sights, sounds and smells of the Christmas season before it ends! While you’re out, remember to maintain social distancing and stay safe.
