Tottenham ace Lucas Moura was delighted to be on the scoresheet in their Carabao Cup quarterfinal defeat of West Ham.

The Brazilian winger scored the winning goal in the first half of the tie at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, netting moments after Jarrod Bowen had equalised for West Ham following Steven Bergwijn's opener.

"This derby win means a lot," Moura said post-match. "It's a competition we can win. We are very strong at the moment and our desire is to win this trophy.

"Very, very good. This goals means a lot for me, and for my wife. Tomorrow we complete five years. We are very happy and this is for her."

Following last season's defeat by Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup, Moura believes Spurs are now in a better shape to go one better this time around.

"It means a lot, it was a big game, a derby. It's a competition we can win so let's fight for this," he added.

"We started very well, conceded a goal by our mistake but we controlled the game in the first half. In the second half they tried to score but we were solid and suffered together.

"Last season we had the chance to get this trophy but in the final we didn't play very well but now is another opportunity, another season, another manager, another squad and I think we're better now.

"A trophy is my objective, I think we deserve it but we need to show it on the pitch."
