Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk praised Anfield fans for the way they welcomed back Steven Gerrard on Saturday.
Aston Villa boss Gerrard saw his team beaten 1-0 by his old club, though was given a great welcome back by the home fans.
Van Dijk said: "Yeah, deserved.
"He is Liverpool throughout. If you think about Liverpool, you think about Stevie G. He is a legend and always will be. He will always be welcomed here. It was emotional for him I don't think he can deny it.
'It was good to see him back."
